BUILDING HISTORY
The Molkery was originally constructed in 1888 as the Montclair Molkery and Hotel. The City of Denver acquired the building in 1908 and has managed managed it as part of the Montclair Park since that time. The Molkery is a designated Denver Landmark. This three-story masonry and frame structure received a major rehabilitation to restore the historic features of the building and adapt it for use as a community center. Lyons Historic Window restored all of the original multi-lite double-hung and casement wood windows in the building. The scope of the window work included a range of pre-existing conditions: some windows required only modest re-glazing, re-roping, and weather stripping - others required replacement of certain sash components that were beyond repair - and a few required complete in-kind reconstruction because they were missing entirely. Lyons Historic Window was also responsible for restoration and selective re-construction of wood doors and multi-lite glazing. The project was funded, in part, by a grant from the Colorado Historic Society State Historical Fund.
